SHIFT Run Club

SHIFT Disclaimer

Last updated: 01/11/2026

SHIFT is a social run club and we want every run to be safe and fun for everyone. This disclaimer applies to every SHIFT run and event. By RSVPing to or booking a SHIFT run or event, you confirm that you have read and accept it.

1. Who can take part

You must be 18 or over to take part in SHIFT runs and events.

2. Your fitness and health

By taking part, you confirm that:

  • you are fit and well enough to run the advertised distance, pace and terrain;
  • you have no medical condition that would make taking part unsafe, or you have checked with a doctor or other health professional that it’s fine for you to run;
  • you will not take part while injured or unwell; and
  • you will tell a run leader before the run about anything they should know to keep you safe, such as a medical condition or injury.

You can slow down, stop or leave a run at any time. Please let a run leader know if you do, so nobody goes looking for you.

3. Taking part at your own risk

Running involves risks, including injury, illness, falls, collisions with people or vehicles, uneven surfaces, poor light and changing weather. You take part voluntarily and at your own risk, and you are responsible for deciding whether a run is right for you.

You are responsible for your own belongings, clothing, footwear and visibility kit, and for getting to and from the meeting point safely.

Run leaders are volunteers. They plan routes and keep the group together, but they are not medical professionals or coaches and cannot guarantee your safety.

4. Being safe and respectful

When you run with SHIFT, you agree to:

  • follow reasonable instructions from run leaders;
  • follow the Highway Code, use safe crossing points and take care around roads and traffic;
  • look out for the runners around you and never leave anyone in an unsafe situation;
  • respect pedestrians, drivers, cyclists, residents and anyone else you meet along the way;
  • be kind and inclusive to every runner, whatever their pace, background or experience; and
  • follow our Community Guidelines.

We may ask anyone who behaves unsafely or disrespectfully to leave a run, and may ask them not to attend future runs or events.

5. Photos and videos

Photos and videos may be taken at SHIFT runs and shared on our website and social media. If you’d rather not be included, just tell a run leader on the day or email shiftrunclub@hotmail.com and we’ll do our best to leave you out or remove anything already shared.

6. Accidents and emergencies

In an emergency, call 999 straight away, then let a run leader know.

If you’re involved in or see an accident or injury during a run, however minor, tell a run leader immediately so it can be logged and reported if necessary.

7. The legal bit

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Our Terms of Use also apply.
