SHIFT Run Club

Community guidelines

SHIFT works because people look after each other. These guidelines keep it that way: they apply everywhere in the app and at every run.

The short version

  • Everyone belongs. Every pace, every distance, every background. No gatekeeping, no pace-shaming.
  • Community not competition. Celebrate effort, not just speed. Cheer people on.
  • Be safe. Meet in public places, share honest run details, and never post your own or anyone else's home address.
  • Be kind online. No harassment, discrimination or unwanted contact. Disagreements happen; cruelty doesn't.
  • Report, don't retaliate. If something feels wrong, use the report button; an admin will handle it.

Member-organised runs

  • Describe your run honestly: pace, distance, terrain, so people can judge whether it suits them.
  • Use approximate meeting areas in public listings; share exact details with confirmed participants.
  • If you can't make a run you organised, cancel it in the app so nobody is left waiting.

Consequences

Breaking these guidelines can lead to content removal, suspension or a permanent ban depending on severity. In an emergency, always call 999 first.
